Věci od Rooktown jsou závanem let dávno minulých. Někdy i doslova, kožené prvky nebo kanvas jsou ze 40 nebo 50 let a tudíž leckdy mají onen specifický odér ze sklepů nebo starých skladů. Ale to jistě patří k věci. O filozofii značky Rooktown jsme již psali TADY na našem blogu.

Yes, also smell, because the bags are made of the fabric from 1940s or 1950s and such have that specific smell of the old cellars or warehouses. But it fits to the image of the brand, no doubt. Ano, nejsou to věci pro každého, jak svým vzhledem, tak asi i cenou, ale nebavíme se zde o masové produkci z bezejmenných materiálů. Jedná se o ručně komletované nebo jinak upravované kusy. Výše zmíněný náramek získal společnost v poměrně masivním náramku novém, který nejen, že je široký 5,5 cm, ale je vyroben opět ze zhruba 70 let staré usně, která je asi 4 mm silná. To je opravdu nepřehlédnutelný masivní kus!

Zbrusu novým typem tašky je již na první pohled skvělý Rider Bag. Stejně jako vyprodaný velký Rooktown Navy Back Sack nebo menší, ale stále objemný 50s Navy Bag, i Rider Bag je vyroben z deadstock tmavomodrého kanvasu od švédské maríny z 50 let. Kožené přezky a popruhy mohly být vyrobeny někdy mezi 20 a 40 lety minulého století. Stejně tak i bílá lněná kapsa uvnitř tašky, do které se vejde třeba 13" laptop nebo iPad. Některé materiály jsou téměř 100 let staré, ale to jim vůbec neubírá na funkčnosti. Naopak, na kráse, dle našeho názoru, jim století používání jistě prospělo. Taška může být zapnuta ve dvou polohách podle toho jak velký "náklad" v ní povezete (resp. ponesete). To, že se nejedná o tašku pouze pro motorkáře, je asi nasnadě.

From the same fabric we have a bit smaller, but still quite big 1950s Navy Bag (we still have some on stock). The leather straps and trims are supposed to be from 1920s to 1940s. From the same time (or maybe older) there is a white linen fabric pocket inside with a screen-printed Rooktown logo. 13" laptop or iPad can easily fit in. As you can see, some of the material used are almost one century old, which does not mean any handicap on their functionality. On the other hand, this aged look adds certain beauty to these bags. Double folded closing based on how big load you put to your bag, is a nice feature too. It is probably not necessary to explain that the Rider Bag can be used not only by motorcycle riders

Poslední lahůdkou je pak triko, které bylo vyrobeno někdy v 60 letech, na které bylo ručně sítotiskem naneseno logo Rooktown. Můžeme potvrdit, že bavlna, ze které je triko vyrobeno je opravdu jiná, než jsou dnes všichni zvyklí. A asi není asi potřeba dodávat, že díky své filozofii jsou všechny věci od Rooktown vyráběny v omezených sériích.

První, úvodní část příběhu kožených bund. Je to ten typ oblečení, který Vás asi přežije.
An introduction to a story of leather jackets. Those are the tops which will last longer than you.

Když se řekne kožená bunda, skoro každý si představí ošoupanou vepřovici po dědovi, bratrův křivák anebo prostě jen zateplenou leteckou bundu, kterou obdivoval v amerických filmech. Jde o druh oblečení, který střihově osciluje mezi kratšími střihy, ale často se střih protáhne až na plášť. Zároveň jde o svrchník, jehož uplatnění je stejně široké mezi motorkáři, frajírky, ale i mezi nejrozmanitějšími subkulturami napříč spektrem.

When you talk about leather jacket, almost everyone imagines worn adobe jacket after grandfather, older brother's crook or simply insulated bomber jacket, so adored in American movies. You look at type of clothing that shear oscillates between shorter cuts, but often stretched to fit the coat. It is also the overcoat, the application of which is as wide among bikers, handsomes, but also among the most diverse subcultures across the board.

Přestože ne každému se může líbit fakt, že výroba koženého topu je odvozena od návaznosti na masozpracovatelský průmysl, ve výsledku jde o nejen o pevnou součást šatníku, ale i velmi fešácký kus oděvu. K jeho výrobě potřebujeme vyčiněnou kůži libovolného zvířete, nejčastěji však jde o kůži dobytčí, prasečí, koňskou, ve vzácnějších případech pak o kůži antilop či jiných větších zvířat. Kůže takového svrchníku se barví nejčastěji načerno, standardní jsou různé odstíny hnědé, výjimku netvoří ani bundy v ve výraznějších barvách.

While not everyone may like the fact that the production of leather tank top is derived from the follow-up to the meat-processing industry, in terms of not only the result of the fixed part of the wardrobe, but also a very nifty piece of clothing. Its production requires tanned skin of any animal, but most often it comes to steer, pigskin, horse skin, in rare cases then the skin of antelopes and other larger animals. Leather overcoat are most often colored in black, the defaults are different shades of brown, no exception is jackets in the colors more pronounced.

Almost everyone has/had a lether jacket

Tento typ oblečení byl koncipován jako interní záležitost (jako v mnoha dalších případech) pro US Army, možná proto se stal i díky hrdinskému étosu dosaženému během 2. světové války žádaným artiklem. Po uživatelích z řad policistů, či vojenských pilotů se kožené bundy rychle rozšířili i mezi tzv. greasers nebo motorkáře. Módní trend byl na světě a žádná síla na světě ho nebyla schopná dodnes zastavit. Důkazem jsou například dokumentární publikace mapující punkovou, metalovou, gotickou anebo industriální scénu.

This type of clothing has been designed as an internal matter (as in many other cases) for the U.S. Army, perhaps to the heroic ethos achieved during the 2nd World War it became quite popular. After the users from the ranks of the police, or military pilots leather, jackets quickly spread among the greasers and bikers. Fashion trend conquered the world and no force still has not been able to stop this since now. This is evidenced by publications such as documentary charting punk, metal, gothic or industrial scene.

Heavily custonised leather jackets are not so uncommon

Dnes se koženice vyrábějí po celém světě, takže můžete narazit modely vyráběné od Indie, přes Itálii až po Severní Ameriku, z oblastí přejících masozpracovatelskému průmyslu. Pro ty, kteří se řadí mezi ochránce zvířat nebo šetřílky se nabízejí napodobeniny (tzv. koženka) z polyuretanu či PVC. Náklady na tyto dvě komodity jsou samozřejmě nesrovnatelné. Vzhled taktéž.

Nowadays, there are leather armors produced around the world, so you can come across models manufactured by India across Italy and back to North America, from areas sacrificed into meat-processing industry. For those who belong to the animal rights or to the penny-holders guys is existing offer of imitations (the leatherette) from polyurethane or PVC. The cost of these two commodities are obviously incomparable. The look is also a bit different.

Popularita kožených bund je natolik specifická, že nás donutila dohledat, kde se poprvé objevuje kvitesence této již dřevní oděvní kategorie. Je to doba první světové války, kdy znepřátelené mocnosti museli bojujícím pilotům nabídnout funkční typ oblečení. Úplně první kousky byly objemné a střižené jako pláště s výraznými klopami pro ochranu před nepřízní počasí. Cesta kožené bundy v čase před zhruba sto lety původně určené pro pilotní elitu a vybrané členy armád k menšímu a elegantnějšímu provedení povede oklikami, ovšem trendovost (až na výjimky) nebude bránit funkčnímu využití. Od počátku své existence byly ceněny kvůli skvělým izolačním vlastnostem a schopnosti udržet teplo. Svůj díl popularity sklidily například i v bolševickém Rusku, kde se do nich díky černému svrchníku Jakova Sverdlova halili i další členové Čeky. Klíčovými postavami přerodu kožených svrchníků v módní doplněk se stali bratři Irving a Jack Schottovi, kteří vytvořili ikonické Perfecto v roce 1928. Bunda je střižena ze silných plátů kůže, ozdobená výraznými druky na klopách, nechybí masivní zip, a je natolik robustní, že dokáže ochránit motocyklisty při nehodách (teoreticky). Mekka filmového průmyslu, tedy Hollywood, už koncem 20. let všeobecně tento oděvní doplněk přijmul a propagoval, ovšem nemenší díl popularity přinesla oblíbenost u členů motorkářských gangů 40. let. Aby také ne, když se prvním prodejcem stal výrobce motorek Harley-Davidson! Postava Johnnyho Strablera v křiváku z filmu The Wild One (Divoch) se stala zásadním symbolem záporáků. Divochem však linie nekončí a neumřela ani díky dalším glorifikujícím filmům. Pro mladé v 50. a 60. letech byla kožená bunda něco jako vstupenka do rebelského teritoria, společně s džínami. Sedmdesátým létům vládl punk (vzpomeňme například The Ramones), v jehož výbavě rozhodně křivák nemohl chybět, poté štafetu přebral heavy metal s rapem (vzpomeňme např. Run DMC), o něco později se přidal grunge. Dnes už se o pár čísel větší bundy nenosí, v módním pojetí naopak vládne spíše přiléhavost.

The popularity of leather jackets is so specific that forced us to trace where it first appeared quitesence this has wood kind of clothing category. It's the time of the First World War, when the rival powers fighting pilots had to offer functional type of hard wear. The first ever pieces were cut as a bulky jacket with huge lapels for a protection from the weather. Leather jackets a hundred years ago were originally designed for elite pilots and selected members of the military, to the smaller and more elegant design will detours, but being trendy (with some exceptions ) will not be against a proper  functional use. From the beginning of its existence the leather jackets were valued for their excellent insulating properties and ability to retain the warm. They were popular, for example, also in Bolshevik Russia, where, thanks to Yakov Sverdlov's black overcoat, there were other members of the Cheka dressed in leather too. The key figures in the transformation of leather overcoats fashion accessory became brothers Irving and Jack Schott, who created the iconic Perfecto jacket in 1928. This jacket is cut from thick leather, adorned with bold studs on the lapels, there is counting of a massive zipper, and it is so robust that it can protect motorcyclists in accidents (well, theoretically). Mecca of film industry named Hollywood received and publicized in the late 20's generally this apparel, but no less a part of popularity has brought by members of motorized gangs of '40s. It is worth to mention that the first vendor became a manufacturer Harley - Davidson! The character of Johnny Strabler's with crook in the movie The Wild One has become a major symbol of the bad guys. However, the story does not end with The Wild One. It continues in a tons of other famous movies. For the youngsters in the '50s and '60s the leather jacket was like a ticket to rebel territory. Through seventies ruled punk (think, for example, The Ramones) in the crooks, that was exactly the equipment you could not live without, then the baton was took over heavy metal across rap (think Run DMC!), a little later added a grunge. Today oversized crooks are not accepted anymore, in fashion concept contrary reigns rather feminine fit.

Lether jackets, denim, boots... you need anything else?

O největší úspěch kožených bund se zasloužil především model A-2 velmi stroze střižený a uvedený do US Army coby nástupce A-1 v květnu 1931 jako zipová bunda s jednoduchým límcem, dvěma spodními kapsami, nárameníky, manžetami a stahovadlem v pase (dnes jsou rozšířenější verze s náplety na rukávech a nápletem kolem spodního okraje). Byla vyrobena z autorizované, leštěné hnědé koňské usně, barevná škála se omezovala na tmavě hnědou (tzv. Seal Brown) a světlejší červeno-hnědou až světlejší hnědou. Podšívka, bez které by piloti asi pocítili chlad, byla původně hedvábná, později ji nahradila bavlněná z důvodu zjištěné nevhodnosti. Zip se vyráběl ocelový i mosazný, některé byly poniklovány, hlavním dodavatel byla firma Talon. Velikost této bundy se pohybovala v poměrně širokém konfekčním rozpětí 32 až 54. Právě ona umožnila letcům, ať už šlo o navigátory nebo spouštěče bomb, aby ke klasické uniformě získali méně formální, ale přesto užitečný kus oblečení, ke kterému měli osobní vztah. Proto byly mnohé z nich pokryty nášivkami a malbami na zádech. Někdy se jí nesprávně říká bomber jacket, ale oficiální název byl „pilotní bunda letní".

The greatest success of leather jackets is credited mainly to model A-2, very curtly cut and put into the U.S. Army as the successor of A-1 in May 1931. As a zipped jacket with a simple collar, two lower side pockets, epaulets, cuffs and side belts (today more common version with ribbed cuffs and ribbed around the bottom edge). It was made by certified, polished brown horse leather, color range was limited to dark brown (called Seal Brown) and lighter red brown to a lighter brown. Lining, without which the pilots probably would feel the cold, was originally silk, later replaced by cotton due to the unsuitability. Zipper was originally steel or brass, some were nickel-plated, main contractor was the legendary company Talon. These jackets were produced in a relatively wide range of sizes (32 to 54). It allowed pilots to feel (whether it was a navigator or bomb trigger) this classic uniform getting less formal, but still a useful piece of clothing, to which they had a truly personal relationship. Therefore, many of them covered with patches and paintings on the back. Sometimes it incorrectly named as a bomber jacket, but the official name was "summer pilot's jacket".

Její plné využití bylo samozřejmě limitováno, ale to už je jiný příběh. Od roku 1943 byl postupně nahrazován typy B-10 a B-15. Zajímavé je, že některé předválečné kusy byly vyráběny z kozí kůže (podobně jako později uvedený Navy G-1 jacket), jiné zase z kůže kravské. Ve spojitosti s výrobou A-2 jsou nejčastěji jmenovány firmy Spiewak, Doniger, Bronco, Rough Wear a Aero Leathers. Z hlediska estetiky byly první A-2 poměrně neforemné a krátké bundy, které vypadaly dost nemotorně a jako nepadnoucí. V ramenou ovšem sedí skvěle, možná i z toho důvodu neztratily na své oblíbenosti i přesto, že je postupem času začala vytlačovat přírodně i jinak zateplované modely dalších kožených svrchníků. Ty se sice také oblékali na triko anebo na triko s leteckou kombinézou, ale už umožňovali mnohem pohodlnější provádění speciálních operací ve vzduchu v těsných kokpitech letounů. Z těch nejzásadnějších jmenujme další letecké úpravy D-1, B-3, D-3, G-1 anebo parky B-9 nebo B-11, většina zajistila popularitu právě značce Spiewak a to i během trvání korejské války v 50. letech.

The full use of those jackets was of course limited, but that's another story. Since 1943 they have been replaced slowly by types of B-10 and B-15. Interestingly, some of the pre-war pieces were made ​​from goatskin (as mentioned later Navy G-1 jacket), others from steer hide. When talking about the  production of A-2, there are some frequently mentioned companies: Spiewak, Doniger , Bronco, Rough Wear and Aero Leathers. In terms of aesthetics, the first A-2s were the relatively bulky and short jackets that looked pretty awkward as well as non-perfectly fitting. The shoulders fits perfect, maybe that was the reason why this type of jacket didn't lost its popularity so fast. Later it was replaced by the models with better natural (and otherwise) linings and also by thermal models of other leather overcoats. These new styles allowed to wear only the shirt or T-shirt with the flight suit, but allowed the more comfortable carrying out special operations in the air in tight cockpits of airplanes. Among the most famous and popular models were D-1, B-3 , D-3 , G-1 or B-9/B-11,  especially the brand Spiewak made a strong position, even during of the Korean War in the '50s.

Možná se ptáte, zda je skutečně nutné oblékat někdy až čtyř-, pětikilové bundy, když se dají pořídit lehké kožené topy z napy anebo z jiných jemněji vyčiněných kůží. Původním záměrem výrobců bylo i formování postavy nositele, v době neexistence kultu těla tedy šlo o definici toho, co dnes vnímáme jako „cool" záležitost, což definitivně potvrzují filmové postavy 90. let jako Tyler Durden (Fight Club) anebo Neo (Matrix). Kožená bunda definitivně vstupuje na oděvní věčnost.

You may ask whether it is really necessary to wear sometimes up to eight or ten pounds heavy jackets when you can get a lightweight leather tops from nappa or other finely tanned leather. The original intention of producers were also shaping the body of wearer, in the absence of a cult of the body therefore it was a definition of what we now perceive as " cool" thing, which is confirmed by the film's characters of '90s as Tyler Durden (Fight Club) or Neo (Matrix ). That's how's the leather jacket enters the clothing eternity in definitely form.

Red Wing - Spring/Summer 2014

Podle meteorologů už nás, v nížinách, žádná zima nečeká. My už jsme připraveni. Nejen pro všechny, kteří neradi nosí vysoké boty celý rok, je tu nová kolekce Red Wing. Výchozím modelem je zde typ Postman (model 101), který, jak již název napovídá, byl používán hlavně pošťáky (ale také policisty), kteří nachodili denně několik těžkých kilometrů a proto pozřebovali boty lehké, pohodlné, které ale zároveň vydrží rozmary počasí, ale i test časem.

According to the weather forecasts, we should not expect winter cold here anymore. We are ready! Not only for those which do not prefer to wear boots all the year, there is a new Red Wing collection. Inspiring model is type 101 - Postman. It was a shoe which was used mostly by postmen (but also by policemen), which had to walk long distances every day. They really need shoes which were light, comfortable and which can withstand bad weather. And they should last too.

Vybrali jsme z nových typů tři provedení. Jeden z nich je Postman Olive Mohave. Vychazí z originalní boty Postman, představené již roku 1954. Nový Postman má stejné tvary a zachovává si stejné prvky jako malé dírky na tkaničky nebo konstrukci do rámu. Použitá podrážka je ale u této boty stejná jako u typu Chukka (Euro Traction Tred outersole). Bílá, lehká a pohodlná.

We selected three different shoes of the new collection. One of them is Postman Olive Mohave. Postman, a new style deeply rooted in our rich past. the Postman is inspired by Red Wing’s 101 style, known as the postman’s shoe. Designed to meet Postal Service requirements, the 101 was sturdy, sleek and simplistic and these characteristics served America’s mailmen well. For the first time since 1954, Red Wing is expanding on this style with more casual designs modeled after the 101. The new Postman shoes are built using the same leather upper as the 101 as well as many of the same features including a dog tail, blind eyelets and a Goodyear Welt. Premium Red Wing leather Olive Mohave, made at Red Wing Shoe’s very own S.B. Foot tannery, is used to craft the new Postman. The cushion crepe outsole gives these boots as much comfort as the 101, allowing for the longer walks of a postman’s route or just a casual stroll in the summer sun.

Jiná je i useň. Stejně jako všechny kůže, i tato je vyrobena v S.B.Foot Tannery, což je výrobce usní, který spadá po Red Wing. Olive Mohave je prémiová, voděodolná useň, původně navržená pro použití v bojových podmínkách. Tato úprava kůže zajišťuje texturu, charakter a hlavně vysokou oddolnost. Mimo jiné jsou Mohave kůže také odolné proti skrvnám!

Mohave is a premium, waterproof, reverse suede leather (referred as "roughout") originally designed to withstand the harshest field conditions. Its outer appearance provides texture, character and durability. Mohave provides excellent water repellency and superior resistance to stains!

Všechny polobotky od Red Wing byly konstruovány jako boty na práci a na volný čas. Ovšem ne všichni potřebovali vysoké, bezpečné boty. To se týkalo třeba šéfů v továrnách, tz. předáků (Foreman). Právě tito potřebovali obuv, se kterou se mohli v klidu pohybovat po tovární hale, ale zároveň trávit půl dne v kanceláři, kde těžkých bot opravdu není třeba. Máme nyní v nabídce typ Foreman ve dvou barevných provedeních.

Red Wing’s Oxford styles were promoted as shoes for work and play, and all along the blue collar backbone of America one contingency of workers who took a strong liking to the style were factory floor managers, also known as Foremen. While factory workers needed sturdy boots, the foreman needed a shoe to move back and forth between his office and the work floor. A Red Wing oxford could stand up to the concrete floor and not be too heavy for an entire day spent
behind a desk. We offer the Foreman in two different Roughout leather uppers, for a casual summer appearance. Roughout leather is one of Red Wing’s premium leather types and provides durability and resiliency in tougher environments that may damage other leathers.

Černá verze je vyrobena z Black Abilene usně, kerá je velmi odolná a zároveň se na ní vytvoří časem nádherná patina. Verze světlá, Hawthorne Abilene, je stejný typ usně, ovšem v jiné barvě. U obou typů je použita stejná pohodlná a měkká podrážka: Brown Neoprene Cushion.

Abilene is a reverse sude leather, referred as "roughout". While other tanneries employ a process of splitting and thinning hides to create the rough surface, Abilene uses unsplit, heavyweight leather with proprietary tanning process to give it a unique, rough texture. We have Black and Hawthorne versions.

Soxisix x Momotaro x Denim Heads briefcase

Již nějaký čas úspěšně prodáváme české (!!) výrobky Soxisix. Výjmečně kvalitní opasky, později i peněženky a různé další kožené doplňky jsou na takové úrovni, že minimálně v Evropě se jim může málokdo rovnat. Vše se točilo okolo kůže, na zakázku vyrobených doplňků a přepečlivé ruční práce při kompletaci těchto nadčasových kusů. Nadčasových nejen designem, ale i pravděpodobnou trvanlivostí těchto řemeslných skvostů.

We've been selling Czech (!!) Soxisix products for some time. Top quality belts, later also wallets and other leather accessories are produced on such a high quality level that it is almost impossible to find a competitor on the market. Everything was made only from leather, some metal parts were custom made and the most precise hand work when completing these items. All of these are timeless not only because of design but also they can last very very long time.

The best leather hide, hand-made in Czech republic

Již pár měsíců nabízíme i Soxisix tašky, což je trošku jiný sport než celokožená produkce předtím. Takovou tašku je asi možné ušít i ručně, ale časová náročnost by vyšponovala cenu někam mimo jakékoliv únosné meze. Tašky jsou vyráběny v malé dílně v západních Čechách, která je kvalitou své práce na takové úrovni, že již nějaký pátek zde šijí kožené aktovky pro Mont Blanc a nyní i pro Pradu. Je pro nás velkou ctí, že tašky, které prodáváme my jsou vyrobeny právě takovými mistry!

For last couple of months we sell also Soxisix bags which is a bit different from the other production. Yes, you can sew together a bag with hands, without machine but then the price would be out of this world. Bags are produced in a small factory in West Bohemia which is so good in what they do that they produce leather bags for brands like Mont Blanc and recently for Prada. It is a great honour for us that we can sell the bags which are made by such masters!

Soxisix s touto dílnou již nějaký čas spolupracuje a za tu dobu se vyráběly tři druhy tašek ve dvou barevných provedeních. U obou barevných provedeních se jedná o hydrofobní kanvas, v jednom případě Khaki a ve druhém světlá přírodní barva Natur.

Soxisix cooperates with this factory already for some time and during this period there have been three sizes of bags produced in two different colours. In both colours they work with hydrophobic canvas, in Khaki or Natural.

Největší z tašek je Traveler's Bag (BG.34) což je opravdu řádná cestovní taška o rozměrech 70 x 30 x 30. Taška má dobře do ruky padnoucí uši a nastavitelný popruh přes rameno. Uvnitř je kromě spousty místa i kožená kapsa na zip. Tato taška je nyní bohužel vyprodána v obou barvách. Snad je brzy budeme mít zpět skladem.

The biggest bag is called Traveler's Bag (BG.34) which is proper traveler's bag sized 70 x 30 x 30 cm. You can carry the bag very comfortably with nice handles and there is adjustable shoulder strap too. Inside, there is plenty of space but also closable leather pocket. Recently are these bags sold out. Hopefully we will restock them soon.

Prozatím nejmenší taškou v nabídce je Briefcase (BG.31). Kromě dokumentů se Vám do této kompaktní tašky také vejde laptop, je zde několik dalších kapes např. na iPad, tužky a další pomůcky. Kožené uši i popruh přes rameno jsou nastavitelné a velmi praktické jsou kapsy po obou stranách vně tašky. V našich očích ideální taška na každodenní použití.

On the other side is currently the smallest bag called Briefcase (BG.31). You can load the bag with all the documents but there is a special pocket for laptop. There are also pockets for iPad, pens and other things you can use during your working day. The handles and shoulder strap are adjustable. Very useful are the big pockets outside of both sides of the bag. We see this bag like the best for everyday use. 

Poslední taška, Computer Bag (BG.33) je svými rozměry (42 x 32 x 18 cm) o něco větší než Briefcase, ale má ale uvnitř tytéž kožené kapsy i prostor na laptop. Kromě tohoto je zde ale stále dost prostoru na další věci, ať už na trénink pro práci, popř. i věci, které můžete potřebovat pokud se rozhodnete přenocovat jednou či dvakrát mimo domov. Na taškách Soxisix je použito na zakázku vyrobené kování.

The third bag, Computer Bag (BG.33) is with its size (42 x 32 x 18 cm) a bit bigger than Briefcase, but inside there are exactly the same pockets and details. Beside that there is more space for the other things, like an equipment for evening fitness or stuff you need when you are leaving your home for a night or two. On all the Soxisix bags there are custom made metal parts.

Ale byl to právě Briefcase, který v nás vyvolal myšlenku o tom, jakým způsobem zapojit náš oblíbený materiál, denim (jak jinak) do designu této povedené tašky. Vzhledem k tomu, že jsme se snažili o co nejlepší tašku, použili jsme i nejlepší materiály.

It was a Briefcase bag which made us think how we can implement our favourite fabric - denim. Obviously, we've been thinking how to make the best bag possible and thus we have to use the best fabrics we could get.

Místo hydrofobního kanvasu je na našem speciálním limitovaném modelu (BG.66) použit denim od těch nejpovolanějších, japonských Japan Blue. Jedná se o stejný materiál, který je použit na výrobu džín v řadě Going To Battle od japonských Momotaro. Materiál je 15,7 uncí těžký a je utkán pouze ze Zimbabwe bavlny, která i přes vyšší gramáž zachovává neobvyklou měkkost a příjemnost na dotyk. Bez zajímavosti také není fakt, že tento denim je obarven na nejtmavší modrou, kterou lze dosáhnout pouze použitím indiga.

Instead of using hydrophobic canvas we decide to use the best denim we could get. On this limited edition bag (BG.66) we use the fabric from Japan Blue. It is exactly the same fabric which is used on the Momotaro Going-To-Battle label. It is heavy 15,7 oz denim fabric made of Zimbabwe cotton. Even it is quite heavy denim it still has quite a soft feeling because of long staples of Zimbabwe cotton. The interesting fact that this fabric is the darkest in world when dyed with pure indigo only!

I useň použitá na dno, uši a další části je špičková. Jedná se o hovězí krupon, což je nejpevnější a nejlepší část kůže, tříslem činěná s tzv. pull-up efektem. To zajistí, že kůže vydží velmi dlouho, brzy ponese známky patiny, ale zároveň díky svému charakteru sama pohltí drobné šrámy a oděry.

The hide used for handles, bottom and other leather parts is top quality too. It is croupon which is the best and most durable part of the hide. It vegetable tanned and it is pull out leather. It means that leather will last very long, the wear effect will appear quite quickly but thanks to its character it will absorb all the small abrasions and small signs of wearing.

Oproti svému vzoru, původní Briefcase, má tento model i jinak ušité uší a jiný alternativní popruh přes rameno. Změny se odehrály i uvnitř tašky a jsou zde např. přidány další přihrádky na dokumenty.

There are some changes comparing the original Briefcase. There are different handles, we changed the shoulder strap and we added a couple of extra pockets for papers and documents inside.

We could say that thanks to collaboration with the best suppliers we did something really special in any point of view. The fabric we used, the craftmanship, the usability and also the expected aging process makes this bag exceptional. But, honestly, it is our first attempt on this part of market.
